INTRODUCTION

2019 is a year making a new is a year marking a new milestone of the Crystal Growing Competition Vietnam. As part of the MOMA Vietnam project (https://momavietnam.com), this 6th competition will be organized by four Vietnamese partner universities: Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE), Da Nang University, Quy Nhon University (QNU), and Can Tho University (CTU).

The purpose of the competition is to stimulate the passion for science from teenagers through experiential – creative activities, while helping students practice teamwork skills.

GENERAL RULES

Attendees: high school students, students from universities nationwide. Each team composes of maximum 04 students and 01 teacher as mentor (each teacher can take charge of several teams).

Participating products: can be one of two types (or both) of the following products:

SINGLE CRYSTAL: grown by the team. You can grow crystals of any salt, or combine salts to color the main crystal (see more scientific information on the website: http://vinacryst.hnue.edu.vn).

VIDEO CLIP: self-made by the team, related to the crystal growing process. For convenience, groups upload their own Video clips to Youtube and send the link to the Organizing Committee. You can choose any type of crystal and please let your creativity go beyond limits and integrate scientific information in your clip. See on the website: http://vinacryst.hnue.edu.vn and

In order for the VIDEO CLIP to be submitted to the “International Crystal Growing Competition” (organized by the IUCr World Crystal Association), it must be in the correct format (.avi, .mov or. mpeg) and has a duration no more than 4 minutes; has English subtitles or voices; there must be photos with the names and ages of the team members, and information of the participating school at the end of the video.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION

* SINGLE CRYSTAL: quality (transparency, sharpness of contour, smoothness of single crystal surface), weight
* VIDEO CLIP: video quality, creativity level, experience and crystals grown involved in the clip.

PRIZES

Prizes for SINGLE CRYSTAL (First, Second and Third) and Prizes for VIDEO CLIP (First, Second and Third).

Intended time for delivering results: End of 12/2019.
