Online Course “BIOMEDICAL MATERIALS” – Can Tho University

In the framework of MOMA project, Can Tho University (CTU) has organized an online course, “Biomedical Materials” lectured by Prof. Dr. Barbara Nebe from the University of Rostock, Germany. The course, comprised of 5 lectures, was held online via Zoom platform every Wednesday, from 15:00-16:30 PM (Vietnam time), from September 01st, 2021 to September 28th, 2021, based at the College of Natural Sciences, CTU.

The course is offered through 5 online lectures, each lecture is approximately 60 min, and followed by a 30-min discussion part (more allocated time is possible, depending on the participants’ questions). Prior to each lecture, a pdf file of the lecture content will be sent out to students.

Prof. Dr. Barbara Nebe presents the lecture content “Material surface topography and cell behavior”

This introductory course on biomedical materials aims to provide the undergraduate/graduate students majored in Medicinal Chemistry, Material Sciences, and other related disciplines, and other interested academic staff, the fundamental knowledge on biomaterials (i.e., types, properties, synthesis, modification), their interactions with the biosystem, namely living cells/tissues surfaces, and their applications in the medical field.

Notes in the research of Prof. Dr. Barbara Nebe regarding the lecture “Material surface chemistry and cell physiology”

With a passion for gaining new knowledge in the interdisciplinary field of biomaterials, participants have overcome language barriers as well as difficulties of online learning to successfully complete the Biomedical Materials course. The course excellently provided attendees update, interesting and useful knowledge not only in the field of biomaterials but also state-of-the-art knowledge and experimental techniques in biomaterials sciences. Moreover, academic staffs from various Vietnamese universities had an excellent chance to experience up-to-date teaching/instructing methodologies, which would significantly help them in conducting lectures in the field of Chemistry and related areas.

We sincerely thank Prof. Dr. Barbara Nebe for her great and enthusiastic lectures and also her kindness (and her gorgeous smile). We are also thankful to the participants (academic staff, undergraduate/graduate students) for joining and actively contributing to the success of this course.
