In the framework of the MOMA project to develop a research-based curriculum in Molecular and Materials Science, Professor Chris Van Haesendonck of KU Leuven University, Belgium collaborated with PhD. Mai Thi Kieu Lien of the University of Danang – University of Science and Education (UD-UEd) organizes an online course “Solid State Physics” for 3rd year bachelor students majoring in Physics Pedagogy. On the basis of discussion between the two sides, the course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of solid-state physics as a foundation for them to study and research at higher levels in molecules and materials science. At the same time, the course also contributes to the development of some skills for students, such as group working, presentation, and foreign language through group-themed reporting activities. In addition to the students, the course also attracts the attention and participation of many staff members and lecturers from other Vietnamese universities such as Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE), Quy Nhon University (QNU), and Can Tho University (CTU).
After each lecture given by the Professor, the course’s assistant (Dr. Mai Thi Kieu Lien) organizes extra class to supplement knowledge, guide the exercises, as well as answer questions of students about the content of the lecture. Although the students’ skills in using foreign languages are still limited, they have been trying very hard to acquire knowledge as well as participate enthusiastically in group activities, completing assignments of the course. Up to now, the course is still going on and is expected to complete in April 2021. Some pictures taken during the course are shown as below.
